College, to be clear. I’ve been crushing on this girl that sits next to me in one of my classes since the class began. To clarify, we do talk often and are friendly; typically we both get to class early so we’ll end up talking for ten-ish minutes before class starts. She has one friend in the class from what I understand, who sits behind me (there’s typically an empty seat next to her friend that the girl I like could theoretically sit in if she wanted). In the class we occasionally have group discussions on the topic at hand, and typically me and this girl end up grouping up since we sit next to each other. Last class, it was us + her friend and another girl. Whenever the girl I like was talking, she was pretty much entirely maintaining eye contact with me, only occasionally glancing over at her friend or the other girl. I mean like probably 95% of the time it was as though she was speaking to me specifically just in terms of body language and whatnot.

Is this a good sign, or does it mean basically nothing at all? I’ve heard that eye contact basically means nothing and that it’s significance is overblown, but the fact that she was maintaining eye contact with me specifically even over her friend was something that struck me as abnormal and made me feel a bit more confident in a plan for asking her out next class. I should also clarify that while I was across from her in the circle, it wasn’t a situation where it would make sense to only focus on me; the other people in the group divided their eye contact between the group as a whole.
