  1. First world problems, part 1 335 892: I can’t stand the way in which so many cameras nowadays use some form of automatic HDR, flattening images like crazy and making them look somehow… sickly? When every part of an image is forced to neutral grey levels of exposure, a lot goes wrong. You lose the ability to display contrast, for the sake of showing each and every pebble in the darkest corner of a landscape. And birch tree’s trunks in a landscape are close to their natural colour in the bottom part of an image, but turn nearly black against the sky, as the software has darkened everything above the horizon, again in order to show detail or dramatic colours in the cloud cover.

It’s the visual equivalent of over the top compression in audio: a whisper is brought to the same level of volume than a full belt scream, with both losing their essence.

  2. It is so sunny these days, finally. It’ll probably not last, so it’s best to enjoy it while it’s there.

In today’s dumb people news, a group of students in Turkey (I think university? They were young but not kids) dressed up as Nazis for Halloween and were “cosplaying” (won’t elaborate) when they were chased away by passer’s by in Taksim Square in Istanbul. I remember from my high school days, that there is this certain fascination of dictators in some Turkish young people. They don’t abide by the ideology, but I think they’re fascinated by the power? It was the same with Stalin. Also part of the problem is that these events are so far away from Turkish people today that they feel more like some evil tale or computer game or so. No idea. I hope the idiocy will be cured with time.

Good news is that I have been running with my new shoes for three months now, and no knee pain! I mean, not completely no pain, some movements are still a little uncomfortable, but the combination of the correct stretch, strengthening and good shoes seem to have helped tons. Finding a good orthopedist and the right sports equipment is so important. I don’t run for very long, but twice a week 5 km seems to cause no problems. I am very happy. Injuries suck so much ass.

  3. If there was a band or singer whose music you liked a lot,but whose opinion (or that of one member) you completely disagreed with, would you still pay money to go and see them live? Or buy their music?

  4. In Paris for work.

Jealous about the amount/variety of food options compared to Geneva.

Not jealous about the perpetual smell of urine in the streets and the amount of trash that is strewn about.
