  1. Today is All Saint’s Day,a national holiday here.. not that that’s much use to me,as I almost never work on Saturday and wasn’t planning to today either 😉

So,no long weekend this year, and we decided to stay in Palermo rather than go away as we often do this time of year.Tomorrow is the ‘Day of the Dead’…All Soul’s Day, when many people go to the cemetery to visit their ancestors.

Do you do anything special this weekend in your country? Halloween or some other type of celebration?

  2. [I finished Inktober](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/gallery/98453203/inktober-2025)! It’s a very good feeling. I see a bit of improvement every year, which is great.

We went on a countryside hike yesterday, and did a little afternoon coffee and cake pause, German style. My husband ordered a quince cake with nuts. It was so good, I never had anything like that before. The bottom was a dense nutty cake and the top was like a quince flavoured pudding like goodness with quince pieces in it. I have never had anything like that.

Do you guys have the afternoon tea/coffee habit? In Turkey we sometimes have what we call afternoon breakfast. Usually some neighbours are invited, or it’s a smaller affair for kids coming back from school. Usually savoury (toasted bread, sometimes börek or fried bread dough, cheese, tomatoes etc) and tea. If you’re alone maybe just tea and a snack. I guess most cultures have some sort of “I must bridge the gap between lunch and dinner” meal. Germans like coffee and cake. It’s something that I do maybe twice a year or so.

  3. My account was hacked by a promoter for a weird Onlyfans account (probably actually a bot looking at the way it commented). The photos they posted looked borderline too young to be legit. I finally deleted all changes to my account, but I think I’ll diversify my passwords from now on. I’ve been using a limited set of passwords for everything. Not sure why they want to hack random accounts to promote their shit…

  4. Pumpkin season is in full swing now, which is great! (if you like pumpkin).

Last night I made a dish of gnocchi with pumpkin, mushroom, blue cheese and hazelnut sauce that came out very well, even if I say so myself…

Do you use pumpkin much when you cook? If so,what do you usually do with it?

  5. I think we should start counting years again from the release of GTA VI. Just have “before GTA VI” and “anno GTA VI”.

Since I’ve been so high on the organ lately I wanted to check out all the organ pieces by Kaija Saariaho. I listened to one called Maan varjot first, for organ and orchestra, because I had heard of it before.

The 3rd movement had [a moment](https://youtu.be/msA7Q9z0D2Q?si=VVYgkDfxGvEhUedH&t=159) of probably the best de-escalation of energy I have ever heard. To get the full effect you’d want to listen from the beginning, of course. I love how the organ part descends and rises. The music calms down but doesn’t lose any of its tension.

Not my favourite piece from her, but very good nonetheless.

  6. Here’s a viewing suggestion for those interested in ice hockey! Right now the hockey tournament TV-pucken (The TV Puck) is underway in Sweden. It can be viewed for free anywhere in the world through the streaming service of SVT (Swedish public service television). Though all commentary is of course only in Swedish sadly. [Link to broadcast on SVT Play](https://www.svtplay.se/video/eb3P2qZ/ishockey-tv-pucken/semifinaler-flickor).

TV-pucken is a hockey tournament for boys and girls age 15 and under, where each team represents its own home province (or city, in the case of Stockholm), with youth players gathered from the best clubs of each province. Even at this early age, most of the players already play in the big elite clubs. There is usually a lot of emotion and pride as this tournament means a lot for these very young players. There is also a lot of tradition, since the tournament has been played annually ever since 1959, and most Swedish hockey stars have had their very first introduction to a wider audience here, so it’s a great opportunity to have a first look at the Swedish hockey stars of the future.

Some differences compared to senior hockey is that there are no tackles allowed and that each game is only two periods. The semi finals are played today and the finals and bronze games tomorrow. If you want you can also watch the earlier quarter finals by clicking further down in the link.

    Today’s semi finals are:

    Girls:

    Stockholm v. Dalarna

    Värmland v. Ångermanland

    Boys:

    Stockholm North v. Skåne (Scania)

    Stockholm South v. Småland
