I like to think I am a very low-maintenance person, but I still try to make sure I look decent.
I don’t get my nails done or paint them, I just keep them filed.
My glasses mostly hide my eyebrows so I don’t pluck them very often.
I color my hair, but use a color conditioner for super easy maintenance. I keep my hair cut fairly short and in a low-maintenance haircut because I can be bothered to do much with it. I usually just put some hair oil and hairspray in it to keep the frizz down and that’s it.
I don’t usually wear makeup so I always make sure I am hydrated and moisturized so my skin looks nice.
I have a simple, earthy-toned wardrobe and throw my clothes for the next day in the dryer every night for an easy de-wrinkle.
I wear small earrings and a dainty necklace every day.
All my clothes match. I can wear any top with any pants. I have 2 pairs of shoes which I pick based on weather and pant length.

Lash lifts have been life changing
I brush my teeth, brush my hair and get dressed. Sometimes my hair goes back, sometimes i wear it curly with a quick application of some hair product.
I look decent 99% of the time. If not, then I just usually look exhausted, thanks to whatever my perimenopause allows me for sleep
My routine is simple: wash face, brush teeth, however much makeup I feel motivated for, hair up, get dressed, leave.
None of the extras are required for looking “put together.” Being clean and dressed is really all it takes. And, as a bonus, if you generally don’t put in a ton of extra work, no one expects it, and you look downright fancy when you do even the bare minimum extra.
Work in fitness so it’s more acceptable to look a little frazzled š
In reality, clean clothes that fit well. An updo hairstyle that takes less than 10, and find some jewellery that looks nice!
I mean just basic hygiene some bb cream and clear mascara , with a cute but comfy outfit (including shoes and purse) and some jewelry.
Having a uniform for work. I wear jeans, a pullover sweater/blouse and I wear one of two pairs of shoes I have (flats or sneakers). I have one necklace. I have one belt. I make sure all of my socks are paired ahead of time. I hate thinking about what I’m going to wear.
For ages I got lash extensions but I donāt have the patience to lie there for an hour anymore. Frigginā loved them at the time.
Iām convinced lazy ladies are why athleisure-wear has become so popular. Itās comfy, easy to match with other athleisure items, you wear sneakers with them, and a baseball hat. Itās all simple, clean lines. A few nice looking pairs of yoga pants, a pair of cute sneakers, a few long sleeve zip up tops that fit well, some headbands and a baseball cap for bad hair days. Done.
However ā I do think the key to still looking āput togetherā (re: athleisure wear) is buying nicer (pricier) items.
Showering at night and thinking of what I want to wear the next day when I get into bed helps. Also, I’ve gotten a few lash lifts and feel I don’t need to do much of anything with makeup in the morning if I have one.
Some random things:
– Have shoes/bag/accessories that match and can be worn with simple black dress or jeans/tee; I have a black fabric set, a black leather set, a brown leather set, and a yellow set.
– I have straight hair with very little wave to it, so long hair is actually easier to just pull into a bun/ponytail/clip rather than having to style it every day.
– I wear a lot of black so that things match other things and don’t show stains or dirt as much. My wardrobe is largely built with neutrals outside of that so that matching stays easy.
– I have a lot of black dresses that can be dressed up with jewelry and makeup or dressed more professionally with a blazer – a neutral color like gray or cream, or a pattern like plaid/floral depending on the occasion – or dressed down, paired with sneakers and a cardigan.
– Generally I buy clothes that don’t need to be ironed and aren’t susceptible to showing a lot of wrinkles.
Spite and desire.
Get āa look.ā Like others have said, think about your favorite colors and shapes. Find a drapey skirt you love? (Or a pencil skirt or a midi skirt, whatever) Buy 2 in different colors with 3 tops that coordinate with both. Buy 2 pairs of shoes and boots that you can wear with both. Buy 2 pairs of pants that coordinate with the 3 tops and also go with the shoes you bought. You instantly have 12 options for outfits and even more if you wear a scarf one day and a jacket or cardigan another day.
Example:
2 skirtsāone in navy, one in a print
3 tops (fitted t-shirts are my favorite)āone in red, one in pink, one print
2 pairs of pants, one in black, one in taupe
Navy skirt, pink top
Navy skirt, red top
Navy skirt, print top
Print skirt, pink top
Print skirt, red top
Print skirt, print top
Etc etc
Also I canāt emphasize enough a good hair cut and color. A good cut minimizes time needed on your hair, and every time you get it done automatically book your next appointment
Getting a shag haircut that looks good even when I don’t feel like putting in the effort to style my hair.
Reducing my makeup to a 5-10 minute routine. Skincare for AM is quick: splash cold water on my face, apply Vitamin C serum, then moisturizing SPF.
Having a curated wardrobe where pretty much everything matches.
Mascara, necklace, earrings, claw clip in the hair. Done.
Being lazy isn’t the same as having no routine. My routine is about finding the activities and timing that works for me.

I have eyesbrows laminated and eyelash lifted
I just wear sunscreen and lipbalm.
In the morning i wash my face and out cream on first thing. Then breaky, brush my teeth. Wear sunscreen and lipbalm and looks tidy and clean.
– I don’t buy clothes that are dry clean only or require ironing. Who has got time for that?
– I’ve got my hair in a pony tail. Doesn’t matter when I last had a hair cut, slightly greasy hair can be treated with dry shampoo, it always looks good and requires no styling.
– I own only black leather shoes, they look put together and go with almost any colour clothing.
– All my clothes are one of three colours: teal, black or grey and I’ve got a sort of “uniform”: Jeggings with a jersey or knitted top. (I work in a casual office). Sleeve length according to weather. For going out for drinks etc. I have a couple of skirts that go with the tops I already own and regularly wear.
– I prefer permanent solutions. So I’ve had my armpit hair and the hair on my upper lipper treated with electrolysis (a needle is inserted into the hair follicle and it is killed with electricity). So I never have to shave my armpits or even think about them. I also had a small blue vein on my face lasered off, so I don’t have to put makeup over it every day.
I am lucky in the hair department, I am a natural blonde and I’m going grey, but my grey is white streaks of hair that look like the kind of highlights that other people pay a lot of money for.
Get a really awesome wig that looks like your natural hair.
Here’s the fun part – I don’t!
I put together outfits ahead of time and take a photo, so I keep an album on my phone of all my outfits so I remember what matches what
Dresses. People really think I did something when I donāt have to think and can just throw it on. Didnāt shave your legs? Stockings. Now you really look done up.
DRESSES! I wear dresses every day and itās amazing to only have to think about one item of outer clothing, and it automatically makes you look dressed up
* I cut my hair so it doesn’t take as long to style. I love my hair colour so I’ve never dyed it
* Capsule wardrobe! Everything matches. Buy good quality stuff so you always look sharp
* Eyelash extension serum, I get the first one that pops up on Canadian amazon
* Started a retinol so I don’t have to put foundation on anymore haha
* Bought real gold earrings so I can just keep them on 24/7 and they don’t hurt my ears or lose colour
* I eat breakfast at work (bagel and cream cheese, yogurt and granola, etc) so I can grab and go. I treasure those extra 15 mins of sleep

I have a seasonal āuniformā – a default bottom & shoe that has 3-4 top options. If I canāt figure out what else to wear, I go with that.
I wash and style my hair on morning 1. On morning 2 I use dry shampoo. On morning 3 I either wear a bun, or I wash the hair all around my face and re-style.
On Sundays I check weather and iron/set out a week worth of clothes.
I work from home full time, so being clean and dressed is usually the extent of my put-togetherness in the mornings. I roll out of bed, brush my teeth, wash my face, moisturise and then pop on a tiny bit of tinted colour-correcting sunscreen and some lip balm before getting dressed in some variation of leggings and a sweater/hoodie. It takes 10 minutes tops, and it leaves me looking fresh and not too gremlin-like, which is just perfect!
Also, after fighting with my frizzy/wavy hair for two decades, I discovered overnight curls and will never go back. It takes me two minutes to wrap it up before going to sleep, and in the morning I always look like I just had a blowout for zero effort.
I eliminate things early and often..
When it isn’t clothes or looks its about the house and having things done before I reward myself with my lazy “fun” activities. I do the dishes BEFORE bed (after dinner), or SOON as I wake up – which is the usual. (After my morning pee.. and before my caffeine/coffee if I have any that day.) Sweeping, and other household chores are also taken care of.. Cleaning out bins, the toilet.. sometimes cleaning the shower or washing up the curtain. (It’s removable and washable!) Keeping up.. is.. not.. ideal. But I try to make sure the dishes are done. The rest isn’t always on priority.
I don’t do much to my clothing choices and have the same color pants always.. but with some different patterns. Most are BLACK.. no wait.. all my pants are BLACK. Some have faint stripes down them, some have little indented stars on the cuffs, and some are fancy sewn in belts with silver claps. Done. Now my shirts? Patterned, goes with everything.. always look dressed up, but casual. I don’t do over the top frills, or low cuts. I keep it all three-quarter sleeves — ALL year round. I always have very colorful tops. I love leopard print.. so I have multiple colorful prints, some are duller, some are white. I also like stripes.. I honestly just grab what ever is clean and smells nice.
When it comes to make up.. I don’t. I have sensitive skin. So there is a blessing. I have stayed away from that.
Hair.. for the longest of my life I never had hair to play or express myself with. Now that I do.. It’s me making sure it’s washed 2-4 hours before where I am going, or the night before. I put some marula oil on my hands and rake it through – texture it up and I am ready to go. If I want to smell nice.. I use a leave-in serum. No perfume.
SHOES LOL — This is where my boyfriend is like.. “It takes her ages.” Nah.. I only wear what ever socks are clean and no holes.. toe socks. Easy on. The shoes take me for ever to get on. š Sometimes my feet swell and I smoosh them in there. I have only two pairs of shoes and it’s two pair of Converse with mismatched laces. (Leopard print and lime green..)
Deodorant is my main “before I go anywhere” as well as brushing my teeth. No nail care, but I keep them clean and unpainted. (Nothing under them and they are short.)
To be honest a lot of my skin care comes within the shower. Exfoliating has been a game changer for my over all “brightness”. Korean wash clothes save me time.. and therefore I don’t feel like I am taking forever in the shower — which is something I don’t like.
I never look put together. Luckily I wear scrubs to work but no matter what I do, my hair becomes ridiculous after an hour. I’ve now come to just expect it and hope people assume im just a free and breezy kind of gal.
I don’t use any makeup, just skin lotion for hydratation. I style my curly hair every morning with leave-in, 5 minutes routine. Deodorant, brush my teeth, touch of perfume. I wear dress everyday – so black tights (in summer no tights) + any dress. I am ready in 10-15 minutes. And I love it, because we often camp somewhere or sleep on the boat and I don’t need a ton of special things to look nice.
I just have nice, coordinated outfits with clothes that fit my body well. That’s like 90% of the battle. Add some accessories, make sure your hair looks nice, a little make-up if it suits you….voila! You’ll look put together.
I can’t wear anything on my nails due to my job. I have some dyed hair currently (treated myself last year) but otherwise have it natural. I wear minimal make-up. I’ve never had my lashes done or gotten fillers or anything like that. I just try to wear nice things that look good together and on me.
I can’t for the life of me apply mascara every day. I barely put on deo before I leave, so I have a back-up in my bag, and I actually had slight permanent make up done. Not anything big, but permanent eyeliner and a little lip color. I feel like a million when I look in the mirror every morning. And it wasn’t too expensive. Just get it done at an actual clinic.
I stick to wearing neutral colors (outfits) and use minimal make up. Make up for me is eyebrows, sunscreen/foundation, light blush and lip gloss/lipstick.
Honestly, I don’t think looking put together has to require a lot effort.Ā
I have a minimalistic black wardrobe. Almost everything matches. Having less clothes also means I can invest in higher quality pieces.Ā
I don’t wear make up but I have a skin care routine so my skin is clear and other then that basic hygiene. I do have curly hair which requires more effort and it took a while to find a routine that worked for me there.Ā
I don’t paint my nails, but just file them and maintain the cuticles so they look neat.Ā
Also honestly just getting enough sleep can really help with general appearance.Ā
Iām very low maintenance. I pluck my eyebrows and very occasionally tint my eyebrows and lashes myself. Mascara and sunscreen if Iām going out during the day. I trim my own hair, donāt colour it, because I cannot be bothered sitting for a few hours for something that will look totally different the next day. And itās expensive. Same with my nails, I donāt wear acrylics and never have, and only ever use stick on falsies if Iām going to the city for a weekend away. I have a few pairs of jeans that match everything I have, converses and t shirts. Tank tops if itās hot. Earrings that I wear 24/7, a few silver rings and thatās it
I love daily routines, but my routines are all about my needs and comfort, not anyone else’s.
My hair is extremely short. I wash it, brush it and leave it to dry. I don’t wear makeup. All my pants are black and I wear long tops and tunics over them. My socks do not match, so I just grab whatever on top. I have one pair of shoes I wear every day. I leave my shoes, keys, backpack in the same place so I don’t have to go looking for them. I set out my clothes the night before.
