Just a disclaimer, I am using a throwaway

So I recently begun a graduate program, assuming I would want to solely focus on my discipline, and now a couple months in I suddenly noticed someone who is really smart and respectable and has now captivated me.

The issue is she is kind of quiet/reserved/very studious. We TA for labs at the same time so I’ll always drop into her lab to talk for a bit and we’ve hung out a few times with others as a groups (we’re surprised she even does this) but so far I haven’t had any success inviting her to do something – but mostly because I just don’t know how to go about it. I tried with something small – studying for the course we share but she ended up inviting a couple others so it just became another group thing. Other than that well, she’s the type to freak out if she has an exam in 3 weeks and has to study 24/7 for it, hence why she doesn’t go out often.

It’s more difficult gauging someone who is quieter compared to others in the past. A few times on campus we’ve talked one to one for a a bit of a long time , and it never feels forced/awkward (one time we talked until I realized I had accidentally walked her to her car) but I just don’t know how to feel about it.

One of our mutual friends is going to host a halloween party this weekend so I thought maybe then I’d try to talk to her since it’ll be a lot more relaxed. Other than that I’m not really sure what move to make.
