There is one that will be opening in my NC city, as well as one in Greensboro (IIRC). Are they worth trying out? There's already some pretty good burger places in town as well as in neighboring High Point.

  1. I think its a little better than McDonalds. But it serves the same function of being the minimum standard. A local burger place would almost certainly make a better burger.

  2. Like every fast food chain, the location and people working there will determine quality of food. Try it and see what you like.

I will for sure be downvoted by other Texans for not singing high praises. The one close to me is really good but they take forever to make food so it’s a trade off

  3. Is this the Carolina What -A-Burger, or the Texas based Whataburger?
    Two different chains .

  4. Get the patty melt and ask for spicy ketchup with the fries. Or get the sweet and spicy bacon burger. Trust me it’s good, very unhealthy, but good.

Don’t get the Whataburger burger. Classic rookie mistake

  5. Better than average fast food burger, at a higher an average price, reputation for slow service, also the Patty Melt is great, and they often do very good monthly special flavor burgers and shakes.

  6. Its the best thing in the great state of Texas I tell ya what. No but seriously its like the best fast food burger place or on of the top 3 you will ever taste or eat it. I miss it now im in the north.

  7. I’ve only been twice, in Texas, when visiting a relative. Thought it was pretty good and I would go again if there was one close by, but not something I would be dying to have if I hadn’t been for a while.

  8. My favorite is the the patty melt. Try the onion rings as well. It’s one of the better fast food joints as far as burgers go.

  9. They have a pretty good honey chicken biscuit. Outside of that, it is fairly standard fast food style stuff.

  10. better than mcdonald’s, but that’s not a high bar.  the texans tell me they used to be great

  11. A lot of people from Texas will sing its praises but it’s just a fast food burger place. Better than McDonald’s for damn sure, but that’s about it IMO

  12. Was really surprised to see it irl after reading about it on Reddit as a competitor to In N Out and Five guys. Interior looks just like a Burger King or Wendy’s.

  13. Better than McDonald’s but still low on my list.

Their chicken items go pretty hard but I’d rather go to in n out for a burger for sure.

  14. My old dungeon master is the manager of one and takes great pride in his job. He’s a cool dude.

  15. Sure try it but I personally don’t eat it anymore cause it has gone downhill over the years.

I personally like exchanging the buns for Texas toast and at times their onion rings could be like the best thing ever. Give it a try but don’t expect much from it. I also never had Whataburger outside of Texas so no clue if it’s different

  16. There’s three Whataburger’s in our immediate area so if one has a long assed line at the drive thru we can try the other two. Now I kinda desperately want a Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger with a Dr Pepper milkshake.

  17. Like other fast food, it’s gotten really expensive. I have trouble saying it’s worth the price. But feel free to try it. Some people love it, my wife likes it, I can pass.

  18. Whataburger.   It is a fairly decent fast food place and if you are over 55 free drinks.

  19. I describe it as Burger King if they gave a shit about the quality of their food. I like it. Solid burger.
