I'm a single female who is almost 40. I'm okay with it. While it would be nice to meet Mr. Right, I'm still enjoying my life. Things aren't perfect, but I have a lot to be thankful for. I have a job that I love where I'm a leader, I have good friends, I'm in great shape and work out every day, and I have plenty of hobbies/fun upcoming events to keep me occupied.

Yet, a lot of female friends seem to have a problem with my being single. I never complain to others about being single. Yet, they give me unsolicited advice about how I should try this or that to meet people.

My question is: Why is it so hard for people to accept that others might actually be okay with being single? Why do they feel the need to treat this as a problem that needs fixing?

Also, how do you usually respond when people give you unsolicited advice about what you should do to change your status as a single person?
