Context: I (27F) don't have a lot of dating experience. I had a very abusive first relationship that ended 3 years ago that was dragged out to all hell in court. Although I am very much over the person, it took awhile to recover from mentally.
I have been seeing someone for about 1.5 months and it is going well so far. Due to my anxiety surrounding my lack of dating experience, I've been taking things very slow which he has been receptive to. However, I still find myself stressing over our emotional pace. We kissed for the first time this week and I briefly cried happy tears since he was very kind and polite about the kiss – something my ex would have scoffed at. It was very embarrassing and I profusely apologized, but I feel like I may have scared him off too soon with becoming emotional for a few minutes, especially after kissing.
Am I overthinking this? Or would this reaction be too much for most people?
