Hey everyone,
I’ve realized I really struggle with surface-level conversation. I tend to want to go deep right away dissect ideas, talk about emotions, meaning, purpose and while that’s great in some contexts, I know it makes casual connection harder.
I want to get better at small talk and being able to just hang out on the surface without feeling bored or drained. I notice that when I do go deep, I often end up feeling exhausted or even a little vulnerable afterward, like I’ve over-shared.
I’m hoping to actually practice having surface-level conversations chatting about everyday stuff, nothing too deep, just to get into the rhythm of it. Honestly, the idea of doing an hour of small talk sounds tiring right now, but I think that’s just because I’m not used to it.
Would anyone be open to practicing this with me? I’d love to have a few light, friendly exchanges where we intentionally don’t dive deep, so I can build some comfort and stamina with casual conversation.
