I’m sick to death of mealy, sour and generally low quality supermarket apples. I don’t have any other readily available suppliers nearby other than large supermarkets but I’m getting to the point where I’m prepared to travel.
The shelves should be full of fresh, sweet British apples as we had a bumper harvest, but no. I bought a pack of British apples from Sainsbury’s on Friday and I can only deduce that they were harvested in 2024. Absolute garbage.
I had some luck with Joya for a few weeks (a late season Cripps from S. Africa) but they’ve disappeared off the shelves now.
