Hey, im sorry if this isnt the right place to ask, but i didnt know where else to ask so, here i am haha.
(Bottom 2 paragraphs are the main question, feel free to skip the contextual yap)
Im 18, and in full time education, i want to get a job but as my mom doesnt work (due to chronic health reasons) she said if i was to work i would be getting less money than she gets for me (due to rent and council tax etc) as well as the money she gets for me being cut off. Which, fair enough, i understand that as we have both spoken through it.
While her getting money for me does help obviously, it provides me with no financial independence and any money/savings i may get will always end up back to her and I'm constantly going into debt due to finances coming out of my bank (im her young carer so while its her money, i do most of the finances, just not rent and a couple others).
Obviously i know constantly going in and out of debt, even if its just £2-£3 everytime is bad, especially when it's happening up to 2 times a day. The fact she doesn't want me to get a job though isnt great as while she is getting more money, im constantly going into debt, im getting no experience, and i have absolutely nothing saved. I managed to get £6 in savings (an all time high for me) but i had to put it in my bank as i went into debt. Theres no food at home to take out with me so im having to buy 2-3 meals a day, which obviously is expensive, but my family is acting as if i can just cut that out when i cant take anything outside with me.
Well i guess now is the main question. I am a full time student (i believe my course clasifies me as that anyway) i do 2.5 days a week. So i was wondering if i did take up part time, how would council tax work. I know prices change based on income and where you live, as well as the area you live.
I saw that my council tax would be about 1400, but i dont know if thats monthly or if its split up across 10 months (i read its paid 10 months in a row then 2 months you dont pay. So would it be 140 a month or 14,000 every 10 months? I know thats probably a stupid question but i have literally no knowledge on this.
Sorry for the long post, thank you for any help you may give me.
