My husband is a citizen and he is proposing we retire and move with our two young kids to the UK. If we did this we would need to do state schools, and by the time we arrive our year 7 child will have missed the application deadline for secondary schools. Is this a big deal? Depending on where we move would they be stuck with terrible options? Please help with any advice. Looking at the timeline for primary and secondary school years it seems there is no flexibility, and unlike the US you don’t get to attend a school just because you live in the catchment area.
