Hello can anyone point me in the direction of rules and regulations of working for a business as self employed. I went for an interview at a cafe today, and the owner said they dont process payroll as its too much so I would be self employed.
She said I would work, invoice the cafe, they would pay me. I have to work out my expenses and then my taxes. No employer NI, so sick leave and no holiday pay. I'd have to get liability insurance.
Is there guidelines around this. I cant find anything online because I dont know what to look up. She said I would sign a contract. So I'd be responsible for a 9 to 4 shift 5 days a week, in my contract, but I'd also be self employed. Couldn't I just not come in? What would stop me working more hours and invoicing them for more? How can I be self employed but be contracted to a specific shift?
Could they decide to stop my hours? Is there further risk I haven't thought of? Is it a bad idea to pursue this job? Any guidance, laws / legality information would be fantasic thank you.
