I bought some shady stroopwafel off a discount department store. It was lying on a shelf by itself without other boxes of stroopwafel nearby. The taste is questionable. Maybe I’ll heat it up a little becuase that’s what you’re supposed to do apparently.
The empanadas at the restaurant I ate at were good, but they needed some sauce because the meat was bland without it.
Wolf packs in the south-western part of Finland are showing interesting behaviour: the area is full of deer, meaning they have no issues in getting enough to eat, and they are now settling for dramatically smaller territories than usual. The average pack’s territory is about 1000 square kilometers, but in this region, packs are now settling for territories just 300 to 400 square meters in size.
I found it extremely interesting that some wolf parents have even allowed their offspring to form a new territory inside of their own one, almost like some farms have the original parent’s little house plus another house built by one of the kids as home for their own kids.
Edit to add: farmers, who are often also hunters, literally feed excess crops to the deer (roe and whitetail), helping keep their already booming populations at an elevated level. 80% of deer are shot at or very close to these feeding spots. And would you believe it, these are the people who complain about the crop damage caused by deer…
I thought there was a woodpecker on my pear tree, but turns out it is a nuthatch. Adorable feathery floof.
My husband switched from Windows to Linux Mint and he seems to be very pleased. He said even Steam works well, and they have wrappers for a lot of Windows apps. My old laptop really needs a spa day, so I might actually go ahead and do the same. Why not. Anyone here used it?
Eeep Inktober starts tomorrow. I already know what I will draw the first few days. The strategy this year is stick to the first idea I have and don’t overthink it.
