I’m genuinely trying to understand. A little over a week ago I asked what dating apps I should try and every single comment said that Hinge was the one women were using to find serious relationships.

I also noticed that almost every one of those comments was downvoted into the negative. And honestly my own experiences reflect that negative opinion.

I know their catch phrase is the dating app designed to be deleted, but from a purely mechanical point of view I don’t see any systems that make it better or faster at finding matches. Much the opposite.

Even with a paid version and all filters unlocked, there is no way to see if you have any interests in common. No way to even list interests except in the very small comment boxes they give you. But that means even if people do bother to talk about their interests (which seems extremely rare) there’s no way to filter, so you HAVE to swipe through tons of bad matches, which wastes everyone’s time.

It feels like the app claiming to be the best has the worst filters. What are the features people actually like about the app? What does it do better than say, Bumble, which… seems to do the exact same thing but DOES allow filtering by interests even without paying for the app?
