Hi all I am 26F single mother and raising my son, I have an amazing support system mainly women. My son doesn’t have DEEP relationships with men. He has men that he sees here and there and that spend time with him but for the most part he’s mainly around women . Dad isn’t active in his life at all.
Lately I’ve been taking it more serious to have a solid guy in his life for him to look up to but that’s another obstacle for me that I’m trying to overcome and just do my best when time comes for men ( church family ) to ask to hang out with him . Other than that I haven’t gone out of my way to make it happen .. I just don’t like to put a responsibility in someone else’s hand where as it isn’t
ANYWAYS – he’s about to be 9 and I believe he’s in puberty stages so I want to talk to him about a few things! I plan on us doing like a life lesson where we talk about friendships/boundaries, sex , hygiene, women/girls, God, and his value!
I’m excited I plan to have scriptures to go along with these topics to guide him since I am Christian .. what other topics would you say are important for him to be taught by me?
My hope is to one day get married and my son experience a father in his life daily but until then teach my son what I can and what I know . I know I won’t be able to do everything and teach him everything but I would like to do my best and help him have open dialogue with me about whatever.
