Im taking my dad home after a procedure and the doctor asked “are you listening? You will be doing the after care” and I was. I repeated it back to him.
There is so much going on in this area of the hospital and there is no individual room just many curtained beds and zooming staff.
When I talked to him my eyes were locked in straight down at the floor and it made it easier for me to isolate his voice.
Does anyone else deal with this? Is there any way to correct it?
I try the eye contact but it’s like another stimulus? I don’t think about making enough eye contact, it became too much to think about so I always just give too much and don’t mind.
it’s not the first time I’ve been “called” out like this. And don’t want to come off as inattentive or rude.
