I (M) moved to a new country (UK, London) about an year ago, and I’ve really been struggling to make friends or find a girlfriend. For some reason, it feels like I can’t build genuine connections. At work, I try to connect with colleagues casually, but after a while it always seems to backfire; people either start acting jealous, develop hidden motives, or eventually group up against me. It’s not just at one workplace; I’ve experienced this in multiple places. Even with housemates, they’re passive-aggressive towards me.I recently liked a girl at work and tried to befriend her. At first, she seemed nice, but eventually she acted the same way as the others, and it left me really discouraged. I came here hoping to make at least a few good friends and enjoy a new life, but it hasn’t worked out that way.
Dating hasn’t gone well either. I’ve tried apps, but I rarely get matches or conversations that go anywhere. Strangely, I’ve been told I’m attractive, and in public I do notice women giving me looks, fixing their hair, or even few of them deliberately sitting near me after making eye contact leaving other empty seats. So I feel like there’s some interest, but I can’t seem to turn that into real connections.
Honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. Why do I keep running into these situations, and how can I actually build friendships or find someone genuine?
