Hey r/socialskills,
I'm on a journey to improve my communication skills, specifically learning how to ask questions that help people see their own situations from a new perspective.
I just made a post here asking for volunteers to practice with, and it was quickly downvoted. I'm taking that as clear feedback that my approach was wrong for this community—it was more about my goal than about providing value here. I sincerely apologize if it came across as self-serving.
So, I'm choosing to use that feedback to adjust and ask a better question. My new question for you all is:
Where is a good place to practice these kinds of supportive, conversational skills in a way that's respectful and welcome?
I'm looking for the right "gym" to train in, whether that's another subreddit, a Discord server, or any other online community where this kind of practice is encouraged. Any guidance you could offer would be a huge help.
Thanks for helping me learn from my mistake.
