Not feeling like I had to respond to every slight or insult.
Ilike to keep my personal room door open so the dogs and cats can come and go. Plus it gets stuffy in here with the door even partially closed. And I admit that I like the sounds of my family coming and going (adults and they are quiet people). However, my door opened into a room where people and guests passed by too often. It was an unsolvable problem for a few years until:
I got a cheap, small telescope rod, and hung a colored sheer over my door. It shades the view a lot and looks boho cool. I’ve ended up with seven colors of sheers to change up for variety.

Keeping my distance and certain things about my life from my mom and sister. I always feel like I have to prove myself to my mom and my sister just tries to take over my life. I keep them at arms length and I’m very strict about what info I tell them. I love them, they’re good people at heart but keeping my distance from them has saved my mental health
Saying no drinking around me. I don’t personally drink but I know people like to relax with a little drink every once in a while. By saying no drinking around me I never put myself in a situation where someone drank a little too much and now are behaving wildly
Also I always drive myself places. That way if I’m in a situation I don’t want to be in I just leave, I’m not stuck somewhere I don’t want to be
Saying no more times than yes.
Staying aligned with what I feel.
Not telling people what they want to hear from me because it will make me seem more “friendly” to them. If I don’t like you, I won’t overtly tell/show you. If I don’t like you, I definitely won’t make it seem like I do like you simply because I know you want me to, or it would make you more comfortable around me. If i like you, you’ll know it.
As a mom, not thinking every problem is mine to solve.
