When we met, he showed up with his medium-sized dog — no heads-up. The dog was friendly and well-behaved, but it changed the vibe: more small talk, less getting-to-know-you, and lots of pauses for sniffing/poop-bag duty. I like dogs, but felt unprepared. He said he brings his dog “everywhere” because it helps him feel relaxed. Part of me thought that was sweet; another part wondered if it’s inconsiderate on a first meet (allergies, fears, attention split, etc.). Is this normal now? Would you see it as thoughtful (built-in walk) or as poor etiquette? If this were you, would you say something and plan a dog-free second date, or chalk it up to different priorities and move on? How would you approach that conversation kindly?
TL;DR: First date brought his dog without asking. Cute green flag, harmless quirk, or compatibility warning?
