I apologize in advance for any possible mistakes or incorrect text structure, as english is not my native language.

I just entered college yesterday and I have a hard time communicating with my classmates. When we all met for the first time, we gathered in the same classroom and it seemed like everyone already knew each other. Some were already friends and came to study together, some just recognized someone, and so on. I just moved from a small town to a big one, where the college itself is located. I don’t have any friends who would go to study with me. All my friends stayed in my old town. It’s so hard to see those who communicate carefree in the hallways and during classes while you sit alone. I tried to communicate with them, even started talking to one girl who was wearing a t-shirt with the band I was listening to. But they clearly didn’t want to talk and I don’t think I’ll be the first to speak anymore. Only in those cases where I can ask what was in the lectures or copy the notes. I know it’s only the second day, but all this is already hard for me, and my parents still ask if I’ve found someone yet.
On September 11th we have some kind of event with our group where we have to go to the park, and I don't want to go there anymore. But if I don't go, I will most likely be considered weird, or worse. I don't know what to do in general, because I also have a rather introverted character.
