So I (27f) was seeing 29m for a month or so. Not anymore though…
Basically, I have a small publishing agency. I mainly work with children’s books and education. Some of my biggest clients are in the US, Canada, Spain, Vietnam, India, and the UAE. So yeah, I travel a lot. I’m always very transparent that I need to travel for work quite a bit.
So I met this guy, and we’ve been having fun. He suggested even becoming exclusive, but even though I wasn’t seeing anyone else, I wasn’t ready and asked for a few more months. Then, I had a work trip for some days to Lithuania, and I thought we’d break up during it because this usually happens when I travel because the guys find out it’s a dealbreaker, but no. I came back, he said he missed me, and we were even closer than before the trip.
However, recently one of my biggest clients, based in Dubai, asked me to visit for a week this month. I’ve visited them before a few times, and we’ve had productive meetings. Nothing weird.
So anyhow. I tell the guy about this and he flips his shit, telling me that he knows why girls go to Dubai and that it’s never anything good. I tried to explain that we are literally sending a series of children’s books on the alphabet and animals to the print, but he wasn’t having any of it. He got even more upset when I told him I had visited before because I “should have disclosed it” in the beginning of our dating.
So now I guess we’re no longer dating because he thinks I’m going to go there on a yacht or to be pooped on or whatever.
What do I do here? Is this salvageable? I assume not. What should I say about visiting Dubai in the future? Seems like it’s something I should probably disclose right away, but I had no idea it’d bring up this strong of emotions.
