I am 32 now and have been working full-time for about a year now. However, that was only because a recruiter noticed my resume and have been applying for jobs consistently for about a couple of years prior to that. I am also pursuing an online degree that I hope to be done with next Spring. Anyway, when it comes to my career and getting jobs, I have been anything but unlucky. When I was in college the first time, I worked part-time at the dining center on campus for 3 years because even easier to get minimum wage jobs would often reject me. Yes, even Walmart and Target. Also, I went straight to university after high school, majoring in accounting, and despite hard work and significant effort, I still managed to do poorly to the point of being on academic probation. When it came to applying for internships, I got some interviews, but was often rejected due to lack of experience and lower GPA. After college, I didn't really bother applying for full-time jobs due to lack of experience as well as lack of motivation. So I can safely say that it was just out of my hands that things didn't work out. It just feels like my bad luck is just unreal. No one has ever experienced constant job rejections, even for minimum wage jobs, or struggling in college so much despite hard work and significant effort. I just don't understand how something like that can even happen. Now I am working full-time for about a year now and am starting to gain some traction on a career path. I am also doing better in my classes for my online degree. But I am just baffled. Like how does this happen?! Never would I ever have imagined that I would have ever been in this situation at 31.
