Hello all,

First time poster, looking for recommendations of resurces for building social skills, particularly focused on learning how to engage in conversation, and how to better relate to others. I'm open to courses, books, podcasts, youtube videos, whatever you can think of. For some reason I've just not been able to find anything that's seemed quite appropriate. Most of what I've found (no examples on hand, sorry!) seems to be for people who don't struggle to come up with conversaton but lack the confidence to engage, which isn't what I'm after.

I consider myself to have pretty poor social skills and I'm just not sure how to improve them. I struggle with initiating conversation, holding conversation, even coming up with conversation. It's like my mind is blank socially. I try to observe others an they seem to just be able to come up with things to say on the spot. I particularly struggle with talkign about myself, I find it easier to respond to people and talk about them. I go out of my way to avoid talking to people because I find my silence and awkwardness so frustrating. Happy to elaborate if necessary.

I'm autistic and diagnosed with social anxiety disorder, not necessarily looking for resources tailored to these diagnoses specifically but if anyone has anything please do share!

For mods – I am referencing mental health issues which are relevant to my social skills issues but not asking for mental health advice, just providing context 🙂
