I (18f) work at a grocery store and everyday, when this one coworker crosses paths with me he says something along the lines of “sup” or “how’s it going?”
I’ll reply “good. How are you?” And he just says “just another day here”
I know it’s just the way of things like customary.. but it feels so clunky. I’m not even trying to be friends I just wish it wasn’t so stiff.
Other times when he says something to me other than “how are you” (usually when I’m caught having to do a job nobody likes and he comments on “oh they got you doing __” it’s not awkward because I have something fun to reply with. But “how are you doing” just makes my mind go mushy. What else can I say when he asks how’s it going?
