If so, what is it? How long? What differences have you experienced since implementing?

  1. No, not daily stretching. But certainly daily lifting and running. I “actively” stretch before and after workouts. But no stretch holds or anything.

  2. As you push into 40s and 50s it becomes essential because you start getting injured for no reason doing basic things (much less weightlifting) unless you’re doing basic body maintenance.

Each morning I try to do some basic yoga, tai chi and back and neck mobility stuff regardless of whatever workouts I have planned for the week and it helps a lot to maintain movement and avoid injury.

The foam roller is also your friend.

  3. If I’m not being lazy, 15 minutes. It really helps my back pain when I do it regularly, and I notice when I don’t.

  4. Typically 5 – 10 minutes after I run or bike. In the winter I’ll do more yoga, typically 20 – 30 minutes

  5. I did a yoga challenge for around 36 days, but I have been around a week off it painting a house.

  6. Just recently, I made a commitment to stretch every morning for 15 minutes along with some other changes that I felt were necessary for me as I turned 46. Honestly I feel great and look forward to my new morning routine.

  7. I try to spend 15 minutes or so stretching if I don’t do any other exercise that day. I find that just being generally active is usually enough, but when I don’t do that, then stretching is a good way to keep feeling good and like I did something that day. Like others have said, my body feels stiff and my back hurts unless I keep up some kind of movement each day.

  8. I do mostly mobility workout before workout which is what I’ve been taught (and experienced) to be the most useful.

If I have specific tightness or inflexibility issues I might stretch but stretching is mostly neurological adaptation (pain tolerance) and I prefer massage balls/foam rolling or other techniques if I need to get rid of some tight spot.

  9. For me it’s all about getting the hips activated for the day. That helps my knee and lower back pain. I do 20 reps of the following (No weights) and it does wonders. Takes me about 5 mins (1 min per exercise)

    – air squats
    – athletic stance sway back and forth
    – sitting knee rotations
    – cross leg bridges
    – pigeon stretch (30 sec each leg)

  10. I stretch every morning, but not well or with any skill or routine; I just cant move without doing some.

  11. In my 40s. No. Occasionally a few back stretches.

I tried for a while stretching to improve hamstring flexibility. It didn’t make much difference.

  12. I have regimen that takes about 15-20minutes.  I used to have back issues, primarily soaz and glue used medias.  After going to physical therapist and learning the stretches and exercises my back is fine.  I can feel it when I don’t do them for more than 3 days.  There are some general stretches/exercises mixed in not just back ones.  Some days I’ll just do 15-20 minutes.  When I go to the gym to work out I will do the do them in between sets.

  13. Get out of bed at 5 AM, usually go pee, wash hands, put two eggs in the pan and stretch while they cook.

  14. I use an interval timer and hold my stretches for 30 seconds. I’ll go through a variety of atretches to cover most muscle groups, usually 15-20 stretches total. I try to do this 3-4 times a week

  15. Yes, I stretch and foam roll 4-5x/week after a strength session. It takes about 40 minutes. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. Once in a while I’ll shorten it down to 10-15 minutes if I’m on a time crunch.

  16. I actually don’t have a stretch routine, but a routine which forces me to relax these awful muscles that are always tight. There is some stretching, but really stretching the muscles, is counterproductive in my case.

  17. Yes. Not daily though. Before every workout, which is like 4 times a week. 40 mins each time. Full body stretching.

  18. I touch my toes every morning, yeah. And I have a neck injury that means I have to stretch my neck every couple of hours all day

    Other than that not really
