I am 27 and I have a very old friend from school. In recent years, I have realised multiple times that she is prone to making a lot of mistakes when it comes to life but is really bad at feedback or constructive criticism. She just fails to take it well. She always becomes defensive and starts explaining her actions (In some cases, even when she has asked for an opinion. It's like she just wants validation).
As adults, I feel really sad that she still hasn't outgrown certain things but I don't really know how to handle this. Personally, I've stopped giving opinions to people unless they really ask for it and are ready to take the advice but I don't understand if it should be the same when it comes to such an old friendship. I do not want to end up damaging our friendship.
It's like everytime something goes wrong she would come to me and share or rant etc. But I know that she is making it big for herself and needs to change. But I don't really know what to do about it.
Any advice?
