I'm wondering what is considered a good mechanical engineering salary in the UK?
I have a master's degree and work in mechanical design approaching 40 y/o.
I earn £64k + 15% target bonus which I know is a lot more than a lot of people who do really demanding jobs have to live on.
I'd like to change my job but I'm struggling to find something to match the pay, there seems to be a lot of low pay shit out there. Do I just need to be patient and look a bit harder?
I have 2 kids and my wife works part
time our cars are approaching 20 y/o 😂 so I can't afford to take a pay cut!
It took us a long time to save for a deposit so haven't long managed to get on the property ladder.
Another thing which pisses me off is places I have worked don't really seem to respect engineering compared to a science background e.g. chemistry or physics despite the fact my degree was basically 90% applied maths and calculus. It is seen as 'skills and trade' maybe I'm just in the wrong companies…
One good thing about my job is that the hours are decent I don't have to stay late etc.
