My friend and I have an informal arrangement where we look after each other’s cocker spaniels when one of us is away. The dogs get along very well, so it’s always been a smooth and mutually beneficial setup. However, I’ve been away more frequently lately, so the arrangement hasn’t been as balanced as usual.
While they keep my dog at their home alongside their own and I always provide the necessary food and supplies, I’d still like to offer a financial gesture as a token of appreciation for the extra help. I’m conscious that gifts can be hit or miss, so I believe a monetary contribution might be more appropriate in this case.
What would be a fair amount to offer, considering the circumstances?
