Don’t tell people you have money, people use you as much as they physically can
Emergency funds aren’t optional, life will throw curveballs when you least expect it.
Learning the difference between what you NEED and what you just want.
Don’t take out a payday loan. Credit cards are not money. Don’t fuck with the IRS. And most importantly, protect your credit score. That number is everything.
Even when you own your house outright, you still pay property taxes which feels like a shakedown
Always have it.
Fucking around with credit cards got me into a hole I can’t really get out of.
If your bank tells you it’s a suspicious account and refuses to send your wire transfer. TRUST THEM! You are susceptible to romance scams. .
Source: I’m a banker.
Just because you’re approved for it doesn’t mean you can afford it.
Congrats! You’re approved for a $500k mortgage! But can you afford $3500 a month just in mortgage? On top of all the other house costs and food and clothes and has and electric and water and and and and
That it’s ok to spend money. I grew up poor like electric was off sometimes poor and now with my fiance who loves to spoil me it’s so hard for me to let him spend money on me he can buy me a coke and I’m like but it’s $3 🥺 me constantly asking him is this ok when I get something and he’s like baby just get it it’s fine money comes money goes
1)Don’t start saving now, start 10 years ago.
2)Don’t start investing now , start 10 years ago.
3)Don’t buy STUPID SHIT.
4)Don’t lend money to Stupid People.
5) Don’t sink money into a depreciating, asset, other than a practical vehicle . (See #3)
6) READ,STUDY,INVEST IN YOURSELF !
Make your own money. Even if you meet someone wealthy who pays the bills being able to say f*ck off is priceless ☺️
Learned this a bit too late in life – Not saving 10-15% of my take home pay and not investing in a growth portfolio. I played it safe because I didn’t come from money and money wasn’t always easy to come by.
Its not necessarily always “going to be ok.”
Also, DON’T SPEND MONEY YOU DONT HAVE! I have a terrible tendency to count on money I “know” is coming in. I’ve learned the hard way to not think of it as my money until it’s in my bank account and my bills are paid.

Don’t lend money unless you can afford to never get it back.
I lent someone over 5 grand and when I asked for it to be repaid, she blocked my number and ghosted me.
Unfortunately- don’t trust your partner with your finances. Don’t take their word for it because they’re a god damn liar. They’ve been lying to your face for a year. The savings you thought you had are all gone.

Don’t let someone borrow money under your name (using your credit cards), even if they promise to pay you back. They. Never. Do. And they’ll make you the bad guy for asking or bringing it up.
Even if that person is “family” in some way. Just don’t do it.
And if you’re considering getting married, make sure your partner is on the same page as you financially.
Learn what the interest is on your credit card and pay off your statement (if you can). I didn’t realize how much I was paying in interest by only paying the minimum amount.
