Last week I explored the Monsal trail and it got me thinking. I’ve walked and cycled on a lot of old disused railway lines, and I’ve never questioned it before, but there must’ve been a lot of rails and other materials removed. Where did all that end up? Was the metal just recycled? Into anything in particular?
