My partner has only been living with me for a few months at this point and for the most part things are going well but when it comes to sexy time things can get weird. For some reason they seem to get extremely giggly and distractible. I prefer getting into it in the evening after we've gone to bed but this seems to be very hard for my partner. Laughing like an idiot and making references to memes or just making jokes about everything I'm doing. Don't get me wrong, I love laughing and having fun but when I'm trying to be romantic it can be a real mood killer.
If we get to the point of actually doing something, everything is fine and we have a great time together but is hard for me to push through the awkwardness sometimes. Like I said if we actually get to having sex or just fingering it seems like all the anxiety and awkwardness just goes away but the build up is sometimes the best part and laughing in my ear is not sexy to me.
Is this a common thing? I've never heard about it before or been with someone like this. If someone has dealt with this what is my best option to help?

My partner has only been living with me for a few months at this point and for the most part things are going well but when it comes to sexy time things can get weird. For some reason they seem to get extremely giggly and distractible. I prefer getting into it in the evening after we’ve gone to bed but this seems to be very hard for my partner. Laughing like an idiot and making references to memes or just making jokes about everything I’m doing. Don’t get me wrong, I love laughing and having fun but when I’m trying to be romantic it can be a real mood killer.
