Been wondering this for a while. Surely the need to upload ID to PornHub and XVideos will be drawing a lot of people away from the mainstream adult websites…
Does that mean it will become "safer" to act in adult films? By safer I mean less likely to be recognized in your daily life by someone who's seen you in a X-rated video?

No. If you ever want to work in porn you need to accept the fact that sooner or later (probably sooner) everybody who knows you will know you work in porn
“Its a small world” is very true. It’s amazing how many people are just two or three degrees of separation away from you. (One degree is people you know – family, friends, colleagues, 2nd degree is people who know people you know, and so on). Once a single person in your network gets wind of the juicy gossip, the information will spread through your network at the speed of text messaging
Your argument is flawed for a few reasons.
People who work in porn aren’t ashamed of it.
People watching porn isn’t reducing because of the ID issue.
The industry actively contacts and grooms young people for the “barely legal” content.
Possibly this will be made more difficult, but that’s optimistic at best.
The only other thing I can see happening is viewership and subscriptions to said content will undoubtedly drop so the industry as a whole may become less financially profitable.
If you intentionally act in a porn movie, you are surely hoping that people see it. If the movie isn’t popular, you won’t be hired again. If you as an individual are popular then you can make money on merch, onlyfans, etc.
