This may just be me going through the motions of getting better at talking to people. I've recently been having good progress with holding conversations with strangers when I'm out and feel less anxious about just saying hello to women (yes i am a guy in my 20's).
But sometimes you find certain people that just feel like they have a brick wall built around them. They seem to shutdown any attempts at reaching out and trying to be friendly with them, and sometimes you really can't tell whether they're just shy or genuinely dislike you.
AM I the socially inept one and am just projecting my insecurities onto others because I just didn't have the skills in the moment to leave an impression on these people and get to know them on a deeper level? Or are the majority of americans living in urban/suburban environments just really unstable and making me feel like I'M the crazy one?
