In the United States, haunted houses, and haunts, are a huge entertainment business. These are horror themed venues where groups of people walk through a set, or multiple sets, generally populated by actors, that tells a scary story. Actors may jump out and scare you, and there’s lighting, sound effects, and other effects like fog machines and what not.

I know Europe has a robust market for horror themed escape rooms, but haunts are not escape rooms. They aren’t typically interactive and don’t have puzzles. You just walk through and experience a story. When speaking to a colleague in the UK, they said that there are no haunts in Europe and that isn’t a thing, and the closest you have is a horror themed escape room. Is that right?
