Hey all! I’ve seen a lot of posts similar to this and have been reading through them but I think my situation may be different hence the post.
I’ve been admitted to a dentist on the NHS but the person examining me is a Dental Therapist. From my understanding and what he told me, he can do basic checkups, cleaning, and fillings, but he isn’t qualified for complex stuff like root canal treatment which he quoted at around £700 that would allegedly have to be done privately. I completely understand his skill set being limited but if there is an NHS dentist there (just not taking on new patients) can I be forced to have to go privately?
It looks like the practice advertise NHS treatment, but only to a limited extent? Very cunning tactic as it sort of forces you to extend your treatment to private means.
I have read posts that say that dentists on the NHS must treat you but is it different because the available dentist is only a dental technician?
Thank you for any responses, much appreciated. I’m a student so trying to do what I can and explore some options because I simply can’t really afford the treatment at the minute.
