I've just recently celebrated my 41st birthday. Whilst out with my friends for dinner, one who is a little older than me asked if I'd had my check up letter from my local GP yet as 'that's when you know you're officially in your 40s'. I said I hadn't and the others in my party who were of a similar age to me said they had never got one either.

I didn't even realise this was a thing, but it seems it used to be a thing that when you hit 40, your GP invites you in for a health check to check blood pressure, cholesterol, general lifestyle questions etc.

I know the NHS is on its knees, but is it still a thing? Has anyone had one recently?
