I’ve been using apps for a while as my primary means of dating. I’ve had a few conversations that has a similar pattern of mixed signals, trying to get some insights.

A common trend, especially in the last half year where I match with a woman and start a conversation. There’s some (varies between a couple of lines to a couple of days) back and forth before I bring up a first date. Now when it translates, no issue. It’s the ones that respond* but tell me they’re busy for the rest of the month that throws me off.

For example:
Me: I think we’ll have fun doing XYZ! How’s this Sunday afternoon?
Her: Oh yea, I’m down! However I’m out of town/busy/insert other scenario for a while.

Initially I’ve been assuming that they’re actually busy. However, it’s occurred a few times with similar circumstances. It’s additionally confusing when one person has volunteered their phone number. It didn’t end up going anywhere though. I generally just scale back engagement at that point.

So the question: Am I reading too much into things? I’m not trying to be a nuisance, but also would be remiss if I end up shooting myself in the feet here.
