I met a guy at a friend's birthday party, during which he was very obviously flirting with me (or at least so I thought). He got my instagram but did NOT message me after. I took that as a sign of no interest, though confused about his flirting. Then, we hung out again in a group setting, a week later. We were bar hopping and he added my drinks to his tab and refused to let me pay him back (told me he didn't have venmo, which I later found out was a lie). He even paid for my late night snack and cab ride home. But again, he did not text me after (at this point he has both my number and instagram). I am SO confused that a blatantly not interested person would do all this. Any idea what might be going through his mind?
Only potential reasoning I can come up with is that he knows I was going on multiple dates with a mutual friend, and maybe he doesn't want to overstep? But this feels like a stretch since they are not close friends or anything.
