I just realized this and was totally blindsided. So last fall I matched with a girl on Hinge, we talked a bit, but she ultimately fell off the face of the earth. Didn't respond further. I assumed I got ghosted and moved on.
Fast forward to last week, I was on coffee meets bagel and started talking to a girl. She was responsive, we had a lot in common, and while she did drop off the face of the earth for a bit, she came back, apologized, and gave me her number without me having to ask. CMB conversations expire after a period of inactivity, and since she paid to restart it to give me her number, I figured the apology was legit because of that.
We kept texting and we have a date scheduled for next week. I always try and vet potential partners by looking them up in advance if I actually get a date scheduled, so I did it with her, too. I knew her job from her talking to me about it, so it was easy to verify on LinkedIn she was a real person.
But, the picture on LinkedIn looked oddly familiar, and after some searching I matched it to the Hinge profile cuz I never unmatched her (I generally don't unmatch people unless they just clearly aren't interested or never respond at all cuz I'm lazy). I'm terrible at remembering faces, so I'm not too surprised I never recognized her, and the two apps had completely different pictures and prompts. I'm still going on the date, but now I'm a little more wary of her disappearing again.
Dunno if the flair is appropriate, but I'll let you judge.
