Hi folks –

I (32M) work in the office of a medium-sized chemical manufacturing plant, and I'll frequently see groups of 3-5 guys from other departments go out for lunch. I'm in CS with 4 other women (if we went into how I ended up here, we'd have to create a separate thread). The guys in question are in operations, tech service, health & safety, etc., and they regularly have inter-department meetings to review metrics, product performance, etc.

I'm friendly with all of them, talk anime &c with one of them from time to time, dry humor with another. We get along well enough at the few post-work networking/young professional meetups we've been to, though I tend to be a bit more quiet in group settings. My interests are also a little more niche – not a huge sports fan, etc., though I know there's some music that we all have shared interest in.

A few times, I've seen them either walk out in a group, or we'll drive past each other at the gate when one of us is leaving and the other car is coming back. Is it worth it to strike up a conversation about this with any of them, as in, 'hey, where do you all go for lunch,' or is it a case of, if they wanted to invite me, they would?

Bit of an aside, but ideally I do find somewhere that's a better fit personally and professionally in the next year, but I see no reason to not be comfortable and enjoy my time while I'm here.
Appreciate all your thoughts!
