Once in a while I come across a video of a family hanging out in their homes and some funny/crazy happens that gets caught on video.

I assume for a lot of these (the ones that aren’t fake/staged) that said family has a camera filming in their house. I know it’s not unheard of, but now I’m curious how common it actually is.

  1. I can’t be bothered, but I think it’s very common these days for people to have cameras on their property. My neighbor has a ton of them. It’s not a bad idea if you’re worried about security.

  2. 3 inside, 5 outside, not including cameras in the vehicles that record the outside.

  3. One in the kid’s room and one above the garage. My best friend has cameras all over the inside of his house and I wouldn’t ever want that.

  4. I think a lot of those videos are staged, yeah. I know a lot of people with a ring camera on their door, but not a lot of people with indoor cameras. Some do, just not most

  5. One inside pointed at the front door, zero outside. The only reason I have the one inside is because we used it for a baby monitor. I needed something to do with it once the kids didn’t need it anymore so I set it up there. Once it craps out I won’t be replacing it.

Edit: Correction, I sometimes have one outside because I set up a trail camera to see where the deer are every now and then. However, that camera is not permanent.

  6. If you count both inside, outside, backyard, driveway, etc.

    Zero.

Which is normal for most of the USA

  7. I have one pointing at the driveway, and one pointing at the backyard.

Those I mostly have so I can see the wildlife my yard. We’ve seen bears, deer, bobcats, porcupines, turkeys, fishers, groundhogs, foxes, squirrels, and lots of birds. I’m still waiting for a Moose. I’ve seen them up the road, but never in my yard.

The outside camera is also handy for me to see if the plow guy came to clear the driveway when it snows so I know of it will be plowed before I get home or not.

I do have one camera inside the house, but I only turn it on when I’m on vacation. It points at the cats food and water dishes. We use it to check on the cats when we are out of town, and the cat sitter always holds the cats up to the camera for us when she stops by every day. We are always curious to see what they do when unsupervised.

  8. Probably 4 outside and 2 inside. Interior ones are to watch my toddler while I take a shit. Haha.

Exterior ones are basically there to watch this super jumbo massive spider make a web at this point. This gigantic thing sends me notifications all night, wandering around in front of it.

  9. Right now. One.

Our niece is visiting with her baby and they brought their baby monitor/camera with them.

When they leave, back to zero.

  10. I think some people with dogs set up cameras to monitor them while everyone is out of the house

  11. We’ve got a few both inside and out for security reasons, and to keep an eye on the pets when we’re gone.

  12. We have outside cameras but I don’t want video footage of my family’s every day shenanigans.

  13. 3 outside (one covering each door+the driveway because car break-ins are somewhat common), one in the garage to cover that entrance to the house. None inside, unless you count the garage.

  14. My city had a rebate program for external security cameras so I bought 3 Arlos but didn’t like them bc the battery drained soooo fast (high trafffic area). So I got Two wired external cams and brought the 3 inside, but aimed at external doors. Then I wanted a ring doorbell and after that, a ring floodlight with camera. So now I guess I have 7. Thats a lot. Haha.

  15. One by my front door and another near my cars. They’re just local storage. Never had an issue.

  16. None that are routinely filming inside, but we have an Echo Show that we sometimes use to see what our cat is up to. Outside, we have a Ring doorbell camera and two other wireless cameras.

  17. I have none inside of my apartment, but there are several outside of my apartment building.

  18. Most people just have a doorbell camera.

I’m in security so mine is crazy. I have zero blind spots outside. Hard to how many cameras, a lot are 1 device with multiple cameras in it but basically 18 outside.

None inside right now but that has fluctuated with babies and dogs that I wanted to monitor. Some of my best videos of my kids as babies are from indoor security cameras.

  19. I have a front door camera. I live in a pretty low crime area and I think most every house in the neighborhood has a doorbell camera

  20. Three outside and 4 inside. It’s mostly so we can watch our dogs, check to see who is at the door/package delivered, check on our garage, check on our basement (and the furnace/water heater) and make sure our front yard and back yard are okay (we’ve had some neighborhood teens pull stuff besides watching the dogs).

I also work in security so I have many more bells and whistles on my home than a lot of people because I get a big discount on all sorts of things.

  21. Two outside, one inside. None are on all the time. They’re solely for security (ie linked to the security system).

  22. We have four.

We also helped a friend escape an abusive marriage and threats were made… So, that’s part of my home defense.

  23. 0, but my friends have cameras in every room to be able to talk to their cats while they are at work……….

  24. 2 indoor in the same side room for my cats & dog.but do.show the entrances. Then a few outside including a doorbell camera.

  25. 6 but we have a special needs child that likes to sneak out of the house but naked and run around the yard.
