I (25f) genuinely don’t know how to handle this situation as I’m new to dating and this is a first. Additionally, the guys words / behavior are somewhat contradictory making it even harder for me to decide my next step.
So I matched with a guy (30) on a dating app and we hit it off pretty well there- unfortunately couldn’t meet yet because I was between cities. We would just send voice memos back and forth, every night. He never missed a night. I found that pretty impressive and so I told him how I appreciate that he’s so consistent.
Right after that it all changed pretty suddenly, but due to several factors: I had university work, he had two weekend trips one right after the other. So I understood he’s busy. But the messages definitely slowed down and I went a couple of days without any.
Just this week he told me he has dating fatigue and turned off his notifications on the app because of that. He also basically called himself out for taking long to respond.
I answered and then told him to please let me know whether I should invest my time elsewhere since he said he’s over dating.
His response was to first just continue our prior conversation and then at the end tell me he took long to reply again and that this won’t change; that he wants to just live his life and he’s not into dating currently, so he would understand if I chose to take my time elsewhere. Right after that he complimented an old photo on my profile that I’d changed recently.
Am I tripping or is this hella confusing? Can someone tell me a good next move? I do genuinely like this guy and so far he has felt pretty steady and consistent, which I enjoyed. But I do have to admit this is annoying me. I very clearly asked him if I he is still interested (didn’t I?) and somehow he managed to turn that around without giving a clear answer??
Thanks y’all.
