  1. Last day in Poznan today,we are going to head to Malbork tomorrow morning.

Apparently it’s the largest castle in the world measured by overall dimensions. With an extremely interesting history, I’m looking forward to it!

  2. A library in Brooklyn has removed a Moomin character from an exhibition, as one of the patrons interpreted it as racist.

The CEO of the company that owns the character’s rights states this is the first instance in their 80 year history of anyone even hinting at racism, and another expert on the lore highlihts how the Moomin world is one of inclusion, and everyone getting along, with the characters and stories having what I’d consider a very interesting psychological level. As an example, there’s the story of an invisible girl who slowly becomes visible as the other characters are nice to her and take her shyness into consideration, and goes invisible again as someone hurts her feelings.

Finns are laughing their asses off about the absurdity of censoring that character, and ponder who’s the racist here if a two foot tall character covered in fur and with skinny legs and protrusions not unlike the “horns” of a horned owl, makes you think of a racist stereotype… The character can be seen in [this enamel mug](https://www.muurla.com/product/muumi-emalimuki-haisuli-37dl?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21085562550&gclid=CjwKCAjw7rbEBhB5EiwA1V49nd6ELSg6HNdjjWbDL7b6ukZcsmVRTXvV8izSf4xPnLkKnQ7wqwhYPRoCJ5gQAvD_BwE), which I also happen to own.

  3. It’s new ink day! I had hung up one of the drawings I made last Inktober, [which looked like this](https://www.deviantart.com/tereyaglikedi/art/Inktober-2024-Day-15-Guidebook-1110501207), now [looks like this](https://i.imgur.com/hmWHgUO.jpg) (I also realize how potato my old phone camera was). So I decided to buy some lightfast and colorful fountain pen inks. [I love their label designs](https://www.feder-fuehrend.de/products/sketch-ink-rohrers) which are made by the German illustrator Felix Scheinberger, whose work is super quirky and fun. But I didn’t buy them for the labels, of course –it is really hard to find lightfast and colorful ink. I got Emma, Jule and Frieda. They’re very nice, can’t wait for next Inktober (which is surprisingly close). Is anyone else planning to give Inktober a go?

Last night, a big branch of the old and very laden pear tree came down and woke us all up. The cats were so scared, they fled to the basement (one seems to even have pooed there 🙂‍↕️). Anyhow, that’ll need to be cleaned up and I will have to figure out what to do with unripe pears. They look so perfect but not really yummy.
