What age did you get your earrings? Do they hold any sentimental significance? Or just for fun?

My mom took me on her birthday in 1976 when she was 31 and I was 9. Then I got my second holes in 1983. I don’t wear earrings anymore because they hurt, but I love earrings anyway.
18
My parents did not allow it so I had to wait until I was an adult. No real sentimental significance, I just like jewelry and wanted earrings.
I got my ears pierced as a baby (probably before the age of 2). I don’t own a nice pair of earrings and I really only enjoy wearing big hoops! I should probably invest in a nicer pair at some point, but for now I wear a $7 pair of gold hoops.
I got them done as a baby. I hate wearing jewelry, though, so I don’t own any expensive jewelry besides my engagement and wedding ring.
If I do wear something, it’ll be simple like studs.
I got them done when I was 9 but had to take them out and let them heal before getting them re-pierced in middle school (I was a victim of Claire’s😆).
No sentimental significance, just pretty. 😊

Mom had it done when I was like one year old. I hate that it was done to me because it left behind scars and holes that never heal.
I got them done when I was baby, and I like
Ha great question i have a story for you-
I got it when i was in 4th grade (2017) earings were really in at the time.
The process of getting them? Was hell lmao
Me and my mom and grandma set out to get my ears pierced, we first went to Claires. Buttt you need a adult ti have a ID and my mom and grandma did not have theirs so that was a bust.
Then we saw a guy in a booth at the mall doing piercings so we asked him and he told us the june birthstone is emeralds, which it is very much not, so i did not trust him to pierce my ears proporly.
Then we went to Walmart, (at the time Walmarts still had piercing stations) and they told us we were out if luck because…both the peircing guns broke the day before. I kid you not lmao
THEN, we went to another Walmart where they FINALLY pierced my ears lmao.

My mom got my ears pierced when I was six or seven because she thought it would look cute. I didn’t like them, so I let them close up, then re-pierced them myself when I was 14
I got my second set of lobe piercings when I was 21-ish because I was never allowed to do it when I lived at home with my parents
I just got my helix piercing last year when I was 36, and this is probably my last one
I didn’t really get them for any particular reason, I just thought it would look cute. Especially the helix, I usually keep my hair short on one side and would wear ear cuffs all the time and thought it was cute, so I decided to make it permanent
I was a baby. Like toddler age. I like them currently stretching my ears tho theyre just fun now
6 weeks. No sentimental significance. I got them because that’s what baby girls were supposed to get.
I wanted them as a kid but being terrified of needles I didn’t for quite a long time. I went with my auntie once and she wanted to pay for it but I backed out last minute. Didn’t get it til I was in my 20s; wound up with 3 piercings in each ear.
I got my first earrings at 9 but they got infected all the time because they weren’t done correctly so I took them out. At 22 I got them redone properly and have had them ever since. And I got second earrings at 25 together with my best friend of over 20 years who also seconds so I would say they definitely hold significance for me.
8, my aunt took me whilst I was visiting my nana.
All hell broke loose as my mom had vehemently told her no months prior, and my dad was the one who found out.
***He was enraged with his sisters for going against my mom.***
Aunt wanted them done because my cousins had them, I didn’t want them. I was held in the chair by two aunts and their daughters.
My holes ended up closing over when my dad took the earrings out while I was at a swim camp for a week because they told him I could not have them.
10 when I got them re-pierced.
16 for my second set of earrings, and the girl went too low with one of them. I remember my mom telling her she was aiming too low and the girl giggled, said it was ok and shot the earring into my ear.
The owner was much more angry than my mom, lol.
I got mine pierced on my 10th birthday. That was the rule in my family.
12 or 13 for my standard earlobe ones, I think. I wasn’t allowed to before then. No real significance for those. I just wanted the option to wear earrings more easily.
I got them done as a newborn. I’m very much a jewelry person & wear earrings everyday.
I was a baby.
Got my first pair when I was 10. I think it was a fairly impulsive decision my parents made… I’d maybe said I wanted them for a while, they said i could when I turned 10. Then when we were on holiday the year I turned 10 at x’mas, went to a mall and they saw I could get piercings there, so we did.
I pierced my next 2 lobe ones myself (i.e literally, got a needle + thread and put it through my ear) when I was about 12/13.
Got 5 cartilage piercings in some back alley shop at 12/13. Got belly and tongue piercing roughly the same time at a further back alley shop lol.
Mom made me remove 3 of my cartilage piercings when she realised I had them… Maybe I was 15/16?
I got the 3 re-pierced when I was ~17. Got some other body piercings around then – 24.
I’ve repierced my ears (lobe) a few times when they close up.
No real significance… more an outlet back then. I quite like piercings/needles.
I got them done for my 8th grade graduation (14 years old) after begging and begging my mom. She said if I got good grades, I could do it.
Grade 8 graduation comes, I get my ears pierced I’m so happy.
But of course I’m a kid and let them close up, no biggie. I got a job at 14 and had my own money so about a year later I got them repierced.
You would have thought I stabbed my mom’s entire family in front her when I got home. She was big mad.
A few years later I got fake spacers and always made sure to take them off before I got home, but one day my sister said let’s prank mom and yet again, you would have thought I stabbed her entire family again.
I got mine shortly before my 47th birthday. I think I’d waited long enough.
A few days old. I was born in Mexico and they use to offer them to new parents there at the hospital! I wear earrings almost everyday.
1st set baby
2nd bored teenager
3rd bored 43 yr old
12. My parents wouldn’t let me until they thought I could take care of them myself. Which I didn’t. Got an infection.
I’m 48 and love earrings! My earlobes are droopy now (I like big, hangy, heavy earrings) and am self conscious about them. Can you get reconstructive surgery on your earlobes?
I was about 10, I had to absolutely beg my parents to get my ears pierced because they looked at it as a grown up thing. Very envious of those who got it done when they were a baby or toddler.
No significance, I just wanted to wear earrings.
I was 16 and a friend and I went to the mall and got her ears pierced. My mother was mad cause she said I should have asked her. This was 1970 or so. I like colorful costume, jewelry earrings, I don’t have anything of sentimental value. How about you?
I got them done I was 3 yr old. They are very cute, I wear gold studs.
I asked to get it done for my 13th birthday. It’s not that I wasn’t allowed before that, I just wasn’t interested.

I got my first earrings done as a baby… twice. My grandfather gave me a pair of diamond studs to wear around that time and I started wearing them in my second holes after he died. I lost one last September while camping and I am still absolutely sick about it!
Am I like the only person on Reddit that didn’t get their ears pierced??
6 and then got a second piercing at 14.
I waited until 18. They closed up. I am not a jewelry person
I first got them done at 8 years old kicking and screaming (I wanted them but needles are scary)
Took them out when I was 13 and didn’t get them redone till 19. I’ve only got the lobes pierced but now want more.
The rule in our family was that you couldn’t get your ears pierced until you were a teenager. I got mine done on my 13th birthday. Earrings are my jam–I feel undressed if I don’t have on earrings. My earring collection is vast and includes costume jewelry and fine jewelry. Most of my “good” jewelry was given to me as gifts over the years by my mom. Mostly, I wear dangly beaded earrings that I made or else simple sterling silver earrings.
My mum pierced them when I was a baby. And as a mum now myself, I can’t even imagine doing that.
