I'm spiralling over this and I don't know where else to ask.

Just to keep you from spiralling. It seems like it’s only about a “Partial general approach”, which forms the basis of the Council’s negotiating position with Parliament. Ie. it would only be about one of the two co-legislators favouring such a thing.
Parliament did not agree to some critical pieces of the legislation in its own negotiating position if I recall correctly (in [LIBE’s report](https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/A-9-2023-0364_EN.html) end-to-end encrypton for example is mentioned multiple times to be kept secure; though I am of course no expert on the details of this piece of legislation, this seems a step in the right direction by them), so there is still a chance Parliament’s position prevails.
I still don’t get how France changed sides. I think I get why, but how did it get “infectious” enough for this to happen? Rather strange.
I’m going to cry, I’m scared, I don’t want Europe to be a dictatorship, I don’t want them to dig into my things and I don’t want to be eventually taken away if they’ll find out i said smth bad about the governemt. do yall really think we’ll become another dictatorship?
