It’s quite hot in London,up around 28° yesterday.
The public transport here is mostly not built for that,as anyone who has travelled around the city much will know! Particularly some lines of the tube and the bus system…it gets really stuffy, cramped and quite unpleasant. There is a serious lack of investment in the tube, especially for the prices you pay here.
Despite that there are masses of tourists in the centre! I went to a great Malaysian street food place yesterday for lunch and the line of people waiting was down the street, luckily I have a good sun hat 😉
My mom said up to 47 degrees were measured in İzmir yesterday (probably in direct sun, though). And here I was cold, it was less than 10 degrees at night! My poor zucchini plants. Something in the middle would be nice. Where’s the heat wave? I am eagerly awaiting it. But it’ll probably just be a rookie one anyway.
Yesterday I made some roast beetroot with fresh beets from my garden. They’re so good. I am looking forward to the tomatoes, but it seems unlikely to happen soon if the weather doesn’t warm up. They are growing well, for now there’s still greenery only.
The neighbour brought some cherries yesterday. I can see their cherry tree from here, it’s massive. You would need a drone to pick the top ones.
Despite the cold weather it’s a good year for growing stuff. The garden is exploding with greenery. I didn’t plant all the vegetable beds, and the empty ones are full of wildflowers (and sunflowers for some reason). The peas are as tall as I am. The beans turned to Jack’s giant beanstalk. Maybe I should sell some of the produce 😂 it makes the Hobbit in me happy.
