Because I am such a magnanimous patron of the arts, I bought a book from a new author at the book’s launch eventful a few days ago. The thing is, the book is written in French, and I don’t know any meaningful amounts of French. Now I have yet another reason to learn the language, which I’ve been wanting to do for years.
I am still thinking about the Roadside Picnic. I read the last chapter again in Turkish, English and German (what we have access to these days). The worldbuilding is just so amazing, but yeah. It’s a short book, but gives you lots to think about.
Last night I fell into a bit of a YouTube rabbit hole where I saw a lute player I follow cover a piece from a band called Porphyria, I think? Then I checked out the band. Then I saw that their lead guitar player did a collaboration with another guitar player. So checked that guitar player, who also did a collaboration with another, this time Japanese guitar player. And I love the guy. I am not even much of a guitar listener, but he has a lot of short, lyrical pieces about different situations, like when you have 30 seconds to impress a girl but only one guitar, when your homie doesn’t kiss you good night, emojis but as difficult chords etc. they’re so much fun and so good, you can’t stop watching. I think his name is Ichika Not and looking at his subscription count I am probably the only one who didn’t know him.
