What’s your go-to comfort show or movie, and why does it hit so hard?

Friends, Golden Girls, Seinfeld and The Cosby Show… they’re just nostalgic
Bob’s Burgers, the family dynamic is sweet
**Legally Blonde**—because watching Elle Woods slay law school in pink heels while eating chocolate in bed feels like therapy
Supernatural for when I’m feeling moody because it’s from my moody years, Criminal Minds for when I’m tired, can’t stand looking at the screen, and want something familiar, and The Big Bang Theory or Golden Girls when I want something fun in the background.
Gravity Falls and Jesus Freaks
“Return to Me”, starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. It’s a romance movie.
Duchovny’s wife (who he’s devoted to) dies in a car accident at the beginning of the movie. A year later he’s recovered enough to dip his toes into the dating pool again. He meets and falls in love with a waitress (Driver) who received his wife’s donated heart. The story develops as they discover that connection and what it means to them.
That’s a special movie to me because I’m getting married on Saturday to a man who lost his previous fiancée in the same way. It’s my comfort movie in the sense that it validates my decision to come in as his new partner (even though there’s no organ donation involved.)
A marriage story. Watched it during my first marriage to a lady, who was in a years long custody battle with her son.
When Scarlett’s character tied his shoe in the end, even though their knot was undone…. too damn sad.
Sex and the city because I never was able to find that close knit group of female friends bc my dumbass was so boy crazy. Let me tell all the ladies in here that that is not the way to go. Take care of your friendships. 😫🥺 thanks for listening.
Bridgerton. The accents. The music. It lulls me to sleep without invading my dreams like too many other shows can do.
Emily in Paris. It’s light hearted and I like looking at clothes. Same with the sex and the city movies.
Friends because I miss my friends 😭
Bofuri: I Don’t Want To Get Hurt So I’ll Max Out My Defense
It’s a sweet feel good anime. My son introduced me to it by saying, “Mom! You *have* to watch this anime! The main character is exactly like you!”
Bahahaha!
Comfort Movies: While You Were Sleeping, Bring It On, Clueless, Miss Congeniality, Charlie’s Angels, Home Alone
Comfort shows: Seinfeld, Workaholics, Nathan For You, Key and Peele, Sex and the City, Below Deck
Mix of nostalgia and rewatchable comedy!
Mysteries at the Museum. There’s always a story I don’t remember learning about!
show: if im just down in the dumps or not feeling well and want something familiar that’s well-loved by me, it’s nbc hannibal, criminal minds, or house. if im actually losing my shit (very sick, migraine, or extremely depressed), i put on ~2015 era gamegrumps playthroughs. it’s so nostalgic that it kind’ve lulls me to sleep.
movie: treasure planet or true grit. the explanation for those two is simple- daddy issues 😭
Harry potter series. It’s an escape to a world of fantasy!
Gilmore Girls— it always feels comforting and cozy! Edit to add: Stars Hollow and all of its sweet and funny inhabitants make me smile, the town itself feels like a character, and I love watching the dynamic between Lorelei and Luke.
Scrubs. Heartfelt & hilarious.
Parks and Recreation. You simply cannot be in a bad mood after an episode.
Quirky, lovable characters. Upbeat and overall silly and positive.
Bob’s Burgers, King of Queens for the funnies. And Sex in the City for the gal pals.
WILTY
FRIENDS. It was my go-to show when my parents were going through divorce, and it’s still my go-to show on down days. No matter how many times I watch it, it remains consistently funny.
Aside from that, I also rewatch Scrubs and Parks and Rec.
Sex And The City.
There’s something so incredibly comforting about that show. I’ve seen it a million times and it’s not super important to pay attention to what’s happening.
It feels like you’re apart of their little girl group, like these characters are your friends, and the early 2000s NYC aesthetic feels so familiar and unstimulating.
The good place. The way they find each other always and forever 🖤
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE BIG BANG THEORY, SEX AND THE CITY. and OG Disney movies and INTERSTELLAR
Northern Exposure. Reminds me of home.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy because I can so easily get lost in them and there are so many layers of wisdom and lore, and while everything really sucks throughout the series, it’s all still so beautiful and everything works out in the end. Plus, when my depression is hitting hard, Gandalf’s and Samwise’s speeches about continuing on even when everything seems dark and hopeless feel like they’re talking to me.
